I chase a very particular mood when I photograph. No matter what planning I plot, these places and these moods always surprise me. The perfect mixture of fog and light makes me sharp and alert but it is so ephemeral that I can say I’ve missed more than a few opportunities capture the scene I intended to. Smooth and calm like glass, pure solitude and peacefulness I almost missed this dock as I scoured the Hood Canal for a perfect scene. Divers setting up on the beach caused me to pause, just as I was about to approach them fog cleared the dock. I quickly scouted for compositions and set up my gear. I let myself enjoy the cool damp air as my camera soaked up beautiful light.
