AWAKENING | ITALIA
When I found myself on the shore of Lake Barcis in Piancavallo, Italy I felt as though I we
re standing before a vision of heaven. The sun light was bursting through the clouds like a painting and the breeze was bringing its cool aftershocks across the lake. One of my favorite things about Italy is the freshness of the wind. You know how when you wake up in the morning and that cool, dewey-chilled air fills your lungs and you feel like everything is possible? In the mountains in Italy, it feels like that all day long.

“Painted Skies Collection”
The inspiration for Awakening originated in Dubai and the final touches were inspired by the great American painters from the Hudson River School. In Dubai I was commissioned to create an image for a client that was three things: blue, expansive, and had the sun high in the sky. When I think of the this type of light I think back to the great landscape paintings I’ve seen in galleries. I am particularly drawn to the paintings of Samuel Coleman, Thomas Moran and John Kenset and the way they depict afternoon light in valley and mountain landscapes. The imagery of the Painted Skies Collection are a combination of these influences, my love of old paintings, and the inspirations I collect along my travels.
