A quiet contemplation of the world at large

a note from the artist

Here I stroll, memory underfoot, through this land that is also me; on fragments of memory that are the foundation of this experience; against a shearing wind eroding the “I” from these histories in an attempt to restore innocence from cause and remove responsibility for effect. Among the rubble I search for the root from which I have grown, the purest “I” in observation of all the things that I am not.

I am a witness to the weathering of these worlds within. To beliefs being defined by thought as surely as mountains are carved by the wind in truth. I am a witness to the universe experiencing itself, experiencing myself in a constant state of becoming… a quiet contemplation of the world at large.

one of my most aligned images

I’m particularly proud of this photograph for two reason.

  1. It is among the best examples of the aesthetic I search for in photography. I call it Comfortable Isolation. This aligns with Why I Create Art. You can read more about my ethos and origins here.

  2. I’m very confident that a photograph like this has not been created from Iceland

About the prints: I print on a premium substrate that is unparalleled in depth and luminosity. The material refracts light in such a way that light travels laterally through the paper as well as reflects to the audience creating a brilliant effect that many mistake to be rear illumination. Each print is then face mounted to acrylic and sandwiched to a protective backing. The artwork is then framed or a recessed mount is added to the back to float on the wall. I offer many framing options on this website or you can collect the artwork and have it framed at your preferred framer. I recommend Room for One to be framed in a narrow black or brown frame with three to five inches of white space. More arrangements are available. Liners are available in Black, White, Beige. See FRAMES in the menu above for more frames and liner options.
