Punchbowl Falls, Oregon
I have a practice: I don’t research trails before I go to them. I know, fortune favors the prepared but I feel that adventure wanes before preparation. (granted, I only do this on popular hikes). So, I was quite surprised to find that Punchbowl Falls was along the Eagle Creek trail to Tunnel Falls!
It was a sunny day with clouds dispersed throughout the sky. The unfiltered sun washed out the falls and the shaded light made the bowl flat. With not much time to kill (late start on the 12 mile trail) I waited for clouds to shade the sun and then opened the shutter as they passed on. That is how I got a partially highlighted bowl.
